Veterans Day 2026 falls on a Wednesday, November 11. Most free-meal roundups won’t exist until the week before, but a few offers are already locked in officially, and the rest follow a pattern that hasn’t changed in nearly two decades.
One thing this list won’t do: guess. Every offer below is either confirmed for 2026, meaning the company’s own page says 11/11/2026, or awaiting the 2026 announcement, meaning it ran in 2025 (verified against the company’s official release) and has run for years, but this year’s details aren’t posted yet.
Confirmed for November 11, 2026
These three have 2026 dates on their official pages as of September 2.
Chili’s — free meal from a set menu
All veterans and active-duty military eat free at participating Chili’s on 11/11/2026. Dine-in only, from a limited menu: Chicken Crispers, Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas, the Oldtimer with Cheese, or Soup & House Salad. Beverage and tip are on you, no substitutions, can’t combine with other offers. Chili’s official page
Golden Corral — Military Appreciation Night
Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 4 p.m. to close: a free buffet and beverage for anyone who has served, whether active duty, retired, veteran, Guard, or Reserve. Two things to know before you go: it’s evening-only, and it’s strictly dine-in (no take-out plates). The free meal covers the service member; family eats at regular price. Golden Corral official page
Every national park — free entry for everyone
November 11, 2026 is one of the National Park Service’s official fee-free days, so entrance fees are waived for all visitors at every park that charges one. And if you’re a veteran or Gold Star Family member, you don’t need the fee-free day at all: the Military Lifetime Pass is free year-round, and active duty gets a free annual pass. If you haven’t claimed yours, Veterans Day is a decent excuse to finally do it. NPS fee-free days
The regulars: expect announcements in late October
Every offer in this section ran on Veterans Day 2025 and has for years. The 2026 terms aren’t official yet; most chains post them two to three weeks out (Denny’s 2025 press release dropped October 22). Details below are the 2025 terms, which these chains rarely change much.
Applebee’s. A free full entrée from a set menu, dine-in only. 2025 was their 18th straight year. Their page also has the most generous proof-of-service list in the business (more on that below).
Denny’s. Free Original Grand Slam (two pancakes, two bacon, two sausage, two eggs), but only from opening until noon. Sleep in and you miss it.
Texas Roadhouse. Runs it differently: instead of a sit-down meal, locations hand out meal vouchers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Veterans Day, redeemable for months afterward. 2025’s vouchers were good through the end of May. If you hate holiday crowds this is the best deal on the list. Grab the voucher, eat on a quiet Tuesday in January.
IHOP. Free Red, White & Blueberry Pancake Combo, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., dine-in.
Red Robin. Free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with a bottomless side, dine-in.
Starbucks. Free tall hot or iced coffee. One of the very few offers that includes military spouses, not just the service member.
Krispy Kreme. Free doughnut and small coffee, in-shop.
Dozens of regional chains and local spots run their own offers too. This is the national core of the list, not the ceiling.
What counts as proof of service
You don’t need to carry your original DD-214 into an Applebee’s. Most chains accept any one of these (this list is quoted from Applebee’s official terms, and it’s typical of what the others take):
- U.S. Uniformed Services ID card (active or retired)
- Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
- VA-issued Veteran ID card or veterans organization card (American Legion, VFW)
- DD-214
- A photo of yourself in uniform, or just showing up in uniform
If your state puts a veteran designation on your driver’s license, that works nearly everywhere too. Take a photo of your DD-214 and keep it in your phone; it solves this permanently.
How to work the day
Go early or go odd hours. The lunch rush on Veterans Day is real. Denny’s before 9, Chili’s at 2:30, Golden Corral right at 4.
Tip on the full menu price. The meal is free to you, not to your server. This is the one rule of the day.
Verify before you drive. Almost every offer says “participating locations.” One phone call beats a wasted trip.
Nothing stacks. One meal per person, no coupons, no rewards points, and beverages are usually excluded.
Not just food
Veterans Day discounts go well past restaurants. Retail chains, barbershops, car washes, and attractions run one-day offers, and plenty of the discounts in our directory are good year-round with no holiday required. Two places to look:
- The dining category and the rest of the directory — 4,500+ verified military discounts, no account needed
- The benefits map — around the first week of November it lights up with a seasonal “Vet Day Specials” layer showing chains near you running November 11 offers
The bottom line
Three offers are bankable today: Chili’s, Golden Corral, and free national park entry. The rest fills in during the last two weeks of October, and we’ll update this page as each 2026 announcement goes official. Put a photo of your proof of service in your phone now, and if you only have time for one stop, hit the Texas Roadhouse voucher window and eat when the crowds are gone.
