Military Benefits Club

Affiliate Disclosure & How This Site Makes Money

No fine print, no corporate doublespeak — here's exactly how we keep this site free.

Last updated: April 2026

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): When you click certain links on this site and sign up for a product — like a credit card — we may earn a commission from the company. You never pay extra because of this. The product costs you the same whether you use our link or go directly to the company's website.

This directory lists over 2,000 benefits, discounts, and programs for military service members, veterans, and their families — and it will always be free.

How We Make Money

Here is every way this site earns revenue. No hidden tricks.

Credit Card Affiliate Commissions

When we write about or list credit cards (like the Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire), we sometimes include special tracking links provided by affiliate networks. If you click one of those links and get approved for a card, the credit card company pays us a commission — a flat fee per approved application.

  • You never pay more for using our link. The card terms, annual fee, rewards, and sign-up bonus are identical whether you apply through us or go directly to the issuer's website.
  • We are not the credit card company. We do not see your application, your credit score, or your personal information. We only find out that a commission was earned — not who earned it for us.
  • Not every card we mention has an affiliate link. When we recommend a card that does not pay us (like the USAA Cashback Rewards), we still recommend it if it is the best option for you.

Display Advertising (Google AdSense)

You may see banner ads or text ads on some pages. These are served by Google AdSense, and we earn a small amount when you view or click them. We do not choose which specific ads appear — Google selects them based on the page content and your browsing history. We will never allow ads for predatory financial products on this site.

Sponsored or Featured Listings

A company may pay us to feature their product or service more prominently in our directory or in a blog post. When this happens, we will always label it clearly with language like "Sponsored" or "Featured Partner" so you know the difference between a paid placement and our independent picks.

We will never write a fake positive review in exchange for money. If a sponsor's product is not a good fit for service members, we will say so or decline the sponsorship entirely.

Voluntary Donations

We accept tips and donations from readers who want to support the site. This is completely optional and does not affect what we recommend.

What We Will Never Do

  • We will never charge you to access this directory.
  • We will never promote payday loans, predatory lenders, or any product with an APR above 36% (the Military Lending Act cap).
  • We will never let an advertiser write or edit our content.
  • We will never hide the fact that a link earns us money.

Affiliate Disclosure (FTC Compliance Statement)

This disclosure is provided in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 — Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (revised June 2023).

NikoServes has financial relationships with some of the companies whose products and services we write about. When you click on certain links on this website and take an action (such as applying for a credit card, signing up for a service, or making a purchase), we may receive compensation from the company. This compensation may come in the form of a flat fee, a percentage of sale, or a per-click payment.

This compensation may influence which products we choose to write about and where or how they appear on the site — for example, the order in which credit cards are listed on a comparison page. However, this compensation does not affect the accuracy of the information we provide, and it does not change our honest assessment of whether a product is good or bad for military families.

We are not a bank, credit card issuer, insurance company, or financial advisor. We are an independent website that provides information to help you make decisions. Any product you apply for or purchase through this site is between you and that company.

This disclosure applies to the entire website. In addition to this page, you will find a short disclosure notice at the top of every blog post or comparison page that contains affiliate links. We do this because the FTC requires that disclosures be "unavoidable" — meaning you should not have to hunt for them.

Editorial Independence

How We Pick What to Recommend

  1. Research first. We read the official terms, check eligibility requirements, compare fees and benefits, and look at what other trusted sources say.
  2. Military relevance matters most. We prioritize products that offer specific value to service members — fee waivers under SCRA, military-exclusive discounts, deployment protections, and similar benefits.
  3. Non-affiliated products get recommended too. If the best product in a category does not have an affiliate program, we still recommend it. We would rather give you the right answer than make a buck. For example, we frequently recommend the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), which pays us nothing.
  4. We decline bad products. We have turned down — and will continue to turn down — affiliate offers for products that are not in the best interest of service members.

What About Cards We Do Not Personally Hold?

The site owner does not personally hold every credit card we write about. When we cover a card we have not used ourselves, we are transparent about that. The content is based on publicly available terms, official issuer documentation, and experiences reported by other military cardholders. We frame this content as educational and informational — not as a personal endorsement.

When we have personal experience with a product, we say so. When we do not, we say that too.

Who Controls the Content?

All editorial decisions are made by NikoServes. No advertiser, affiliate network, or credit card company reviews, approves, or edits our content before or after publication.

Military-Specific Disclaimers

We Are Not the Government

NikoServes is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), any branch of the U.S. military, or any government agency.

This site is privately owned and operated by an individual who is an active-duty service member. The views and opinions expressed on this site are personal and do not represent the official policy or position of the U.S. Government, the DoD, or any military branch.

Military Benefits Change — Always Verify

Military benefits, discounts, and eligibility rules change frequently. While we work hard to keep our directory accurate (every listing shows a "Last Verified" date), you should always verify current terms directly with:

  • The official VA website (va.gov) for VA benefits
  • The official DoD website for military-specific programs
  • The company's own military discount page for commercial discounts
  • Your installation's legal assistance office for legal questions
  • A qualified financial advisor for personal financial decisions

We provide information. We do not provide guarantees. A discount listed on this site may have changed, expired, or had its eligibility rules updated since we last verified it.

SCRA and MLA References Are Educational Only

When we discuss the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) or the Military Lending Act (MLA), we are providing general educational information to help you understand your rights. This is not legal advice.

  • SCRA and MLA are different laws that cover different situations — we are careful to distinguish between them, but you should not rely solely on our explanations.
  • Each credit card issuer and lender has its own process for applying SCRA or MLA benefits, and these processes change.
  • If you need help exercising your rights under SCRA or MLA, contact your installation's legal assistance office or a qualified attorney. Many JAG offices provide this help for free.
  • Some legal protections under SCRA have filing deadlines (such as the 180-day statutory deadline for certain protections). We try to note these, but always confirm deadlines with a legal professional.

Cookie and Tracking Disclosure

How Affiliate Tracking Works

When you click an affiliate link on this site, a small file called a "cookie" is placed in your web browser by the affiliate network (not by us). This cookie tells the company that you came from our site. If you then take an action — like applying for a credit card and getting approved — the company uses that cookie to credit us with the commission.

  • What cookies track: The cookie records that you clicked a link on our site, the date and time of the click, and whether you completed an action. It does not record your name, Social Security number, credit score, or other personal information.
  • How long cookies last: Most affiliate cookies expire after 7 to 30 days, depending on the network. After that, even if you complete an action, we would not receive credit.
  • Who places the cookies: The affiliate networks and Google (for AdSense ads) place these cookies — not NikoServes directly.
  • You can control cookies: You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings or browse in private/incognito mode. Blocking cookies will not change the price you pay for any product.

Google AdSense

Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing history and the content of the page. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's own privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google's Ad Settings page.

Our Own Analytics

We use basic website analytics to understand which pages are popular and how visitors find our site. This data is aggregated (meaning we see totals and trends, not individual visitor behavior) and is used solely to improve the site. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Questions?

If anything on this page is unclear, or if you want to know whether a specific link on our site is an affiliate link, just ask. You can reach us at our Contact page.

We believe transparency is not just a legal requirement — it is the right thing to do. You trusted us enough to visit this site. We take that seriously.

This disclosure page was written to comply with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255, revised June 2023), including the "clear and conspicuous" standard requiring that disclosures in interactive electronic media be "unavoidable" — meaning easily noticeable and understandable without having to search for them. Individual pages containing affiliate links carry their own disclosure banners in addition to this site-wide disclosure page.
