Unlike Amex, Chase doesn’t waive business credit card fees under any military program. SCRA doesn’t apply. MLA doesn’t apply. The Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business costs $795/yr for every holder, active duty or civilian.

The question isn’t “how do I get it free.” It’s “is it worth $795.”

The credits that actually close the gap

  • $200 Google Workspace credit annually (through December 31, 2027). Verified direct from Chase: any subscription or related fee paid with the Reserve for Business is eligible.
  • $300 travel credit on flights, hotels, rental cars.
  • $120 Global Entry / TSA PreCheck credit every 4 years (pro-rated $30/yr).
  • $250 DoorDash restaurant credit.
  • Priority Pass unlimited.
  • Primary rental car insurance on business travel.

Add the baseline annual credits — Google Workspace ($200) + Travel ($300) + DoorDash ($250) + Global Entry amortized ($30) = $780 — and you’ve recovered essentially the entire $795 fee in credits alone, before any points value.

That math only works if you actually use each credit. If your business doesn’t use Google Workspace, that $200 evaporates. If you don’t travel, the $300 doesn’t help. If DoorDash isn’t in your routine, $250 ghost-credit.

The points layer

The Sapphire Reserve for Business earns 8x on travel through Chase Travel, 3x on direct travel, and 1x on everything else. Redeemed through Chase’s transfer partners (Hyatt, United, Southwest) at peak value, points can exceed 2¢ each. For businesses with significant travel spend, the points portfolio is the real story — credits just paper over the fee.

When it’s worth the $795

  • Your business uses Google Workspace. That’s $200 immediately captured.
  • You travel for work 5+ times a year. $300 credit + Priority Pass + primary rental insurance adds up.
  • You can move expense categories to this card. 3x on travel plus 8x through the portal beats most business cards for travel-heavy spend.
  • You value status transferability. Chase transfer partners beat most programs for redemption flexibility.

If only one or two of those apply, consider the Chase Ink Business Preferred ($95 AF — also not waived) instead. Much cheaper, still earns solid points, no Google Workspace credit but much lower break-even.

Comparing to Amex Business Platinum

Business Platinum is $695 (also fee-applies during service unless pre-service). For AI-tooling businesses, Business Platinum’s ChatGPT + Dell + Adobe credits can exceed the Reserve’s Google Workspace + Travel credits. For travel-heavy businesses, Reserve usually wins.

Pick based on where your business actually spends.

Bottom line

Don’t open the Sapphire Reserve for Business expecting a military discount. There isn’t one. Open it only if the math on your spend profile shows credit utilization north of $700.

Personal Chase cards ARE waivable under both SCRA and MLA — see the Chase Sapphire Reserve guide for the card most active-duty members should prioritize first.
