Florida's catalog is the largest of the five pilot states here — 68 active programs — and taxes make up a bigger share of it than anywhere else in this group. Veterans 65 or older with a combat-related, permanent service-connected disability get a homestead discount sized to match their disability percentage, deployed service members get a property tax exemption scaled to how much of the year they spent overseas, and veterans plus their spouses can skip local business taxes under the state's Business Tax Statutes. Disabled homeowners get another break: county and municipal building-permit fees can be waived for home modifications that make a residence safer to live in.

Employment protections show up repeatedly too. Former U.S. Special Operations Command members with five or more years of service are exempt from Florida's basic law-enforcement recruit training, and state employers can waive postsecondary-education requirements for qualifying Guard, Reserve, and veteran applicants. Disabled drivers who can't physically use a coin toll basket ride free through Florida's tollgates once certified by a physician or the VA. Eight of Florida's 68 programs — more than any other pilot state — set a minimum VA disability rating, so a documented rating unlocks more here than in most states.

What this is (and isn't)

What this is (and isn't): this is a filtered directory, not an eligibility determination. "May apply" means your profile matches the basic criteria we could verify from the official source — many programs have extra requirements (income limits, service eras, discharge status) listed under each entry. Always confirm with the administering agency before counting on a benefit. This site is not affiliated with the VA or DoD.
